"When the well is dry, we'll learn the worth of water."
~Benjamin Franklin
It
is always a good idea to periodically inspect your home for any
possible water leaks and be conscious of the amount of water your
household is using. It's good for the environment and good for your
pocketbook too. Here are a few tips for conserving water:
1. Dishwashers use 15-25 gallons for every cycle, so only run full loads.
2. Don't leave the water running while brushing your teeth or shaving.
3. Install water saving shower heads to cut the water flow up to three gallons per minute instead of five to ten.
4. Take shorter showers or atleast turn off the water while soaping up, then rinse off.
5. Washing machines use 30-35 gallons a cycle, so only wash full loads.
6. Keep a pitcher of drinking water in the refrigerator instead of running the tap until it's cool.
7. Don't leave the water running while rinsing dishes; fill a dishpan with water to use for rinsing.
8.
Check your toilet for leaks: Put a few drops of food coloring in the
tank, if the coloring appears in the bowl, you may have a leak wasting
more than 100 gallons of water a day.
